Arsenal are looking to build on their solid start to pre-season against Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
So far in the tour of the USA, Unai Emery’s men have won all three matches, including wins against Fiorentina and Bayern Munich in their first two games in the tournament.
Emery has been heavily rotating his squad throughout the pre-season tour but he decided to field his strongest starting eleven yet for the clash against the Spanish giants.
After experimenting with youth against Fiorentina at the weekend, Emery opted to start with midfielder Joe Willock and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez the only players lacking any real Premier League experience in his starting line-up.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was given a start alongside Alexandre Lacazette, while Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both started in midfield.
But it was the team sheet handed in by Los Blancos that got Gunners reeling after former Chelsea man Hazard was included.
The Belgium international finally made the move to the Bernabeu earlier in the summer after much speculation in recent months.
While he is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world and fans know about his quality, he made a particular habit of putting on a show against Arsenal in the past.
And Gunners fans were bracing themselves for more of the same ahead of their team’s clash with Real Madrid.
“Hazard. Noooo,” wrote on fan.
“Hazard is gunna give us flash backs,” said another.
A third worried Arsenal fan said: “Against HAZARD!!! IM NERVOUS”
While another said: “Oh god hazard vs xhaka can’t wait.”
Hazard had a history of playing well against Arsenal during his Chelsea days.
The forward registered seven goals and three assists against the Gunners from his 19 appearances against them.
And he left his best performance against them until last, netting two in the Europa League final in Baku in June.
