Primary striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from north London in recent days, with China reported as a potential destination.
The Gabon international was prolific last season and losing him would be a huge blow to Arsenal’s hopes of a top-four finish next term.
And while it may be a case of putting two and two together and making five, plenty of supporters believe they have a valid reason to be concerned.
Sky Sports News report Arsenal are one of a number of top clubs monitoring up-and-coming Russian star Chalov.
The 21-year-old scored against the Gunners in their Europa League quarter-final second leg meeting in 2017/18.
Monaco and Sevilla are also keen on Chalov, who was top scorer in the Russian Premier League last season for CSKA Moscow, scoring 15 times in 30 appearances.
Arsenal may well be eyeing him purely as a young understudy to Aubameyang and strike partner Alexandre Lacazette.
But considering the club’s penchant for selling its best players, it’s understandable that fans are getting nervous.
“One of Laca or Auba must be going if we are looking at strikers,” tweeted one worried Gooner.
A second supporter agreed, writing: “With all the strikers we’re getting linked to it must mean Laca is getting binned.”
“Probably Welbecks Replacement,” mused a third Arsenal fan.
“People you can’t just think that both our strikers won’t get injured.”
Another baffled fan wrote: “WHY ARE WE BEING LINKED WITH STRIKERS?”
But other supporters didn’t see the potential downside and were excited by the Chalov links.
“Rahhhhh now I can get behind this, this kids a baller,” was another fan’s view.
Aubameyang won the Premier League’s Golden Boot last season, finishing level with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on 23 goals.
