Arsenal fans fuming over Unai Emery’s Mesut Ozil decision vs Standard Liege

Unai Emery has left Arsenal fans fuming by leaving Mesut Ozil out of his squad for tonight’s clash with Standard Liege.

Ozil has started just two games so far for the Gunners this season, playing just 142 minutes and contributing no goals or assists.

The playmaker was given a period to recover after an attempted robbery with team-mate Sead Kolasinac in July.

But Kolasinac has seen plenty of action while Ozil’s Arsenal’s career seems to be grinding to a halt.

Despite his seemingly fading powers, the 30-year-old still has a very large and vocal fanbase at the club.

And a number of Ozil supporters took to social media to voice their displeasure that their man had not been included once again.

“He cant even make a matchday squad what is actually going on,” questioned one Gooner.

“This is disgusting. Emery needs to fix up,” said another.

“Can someone explain to me what’s going on btw Ozil and Emery,” asked a third baffled supporter.

While a fourth raged: “@UnaiEmery_ What is @Arsenal Paying Ozil 350k weekly for? #EmeryOut #EmeryOut #EmeryOut”

Ozil has only started two games for Arsenal so far this season and finished neither

Arsenal hero Ray Parlour reckons Ozil could be on the brink of quitting Arsenal after Emery axed his from the squad against Manchester United on Monday.

The German has been linked with a switch away from the Emirates in January – with Arsenal even willing to subsidise his wages to offload his £350,000-a-week salary from their books.

“We don’t know what happens behind the scenes; we don’t know the atmosphere at training and we don’t know his attitude at training,” he told talkSPORT.

“Maybe Emery is looking at it wanting a reaction and he’s not getting a reaction, so he’s saying, ‘I’m going to go with the youngsters instead’.

“He’s been brave by doing it because Ozil is a World Cup winner and he’s on a massive contract at Arsenal.

“But he did probably need someone like Ozil [against United] to open the door for [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang; he didn’t get a lot of service did he?

“But Ozil, I don’t know what the future holds for him. I think that could be the last straw.”
