Arsenal fans demand Wilfried Zaha for Nicolas Pepe assist in Ivory Coast win

Arsenal fans want Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha as the transfer target showed off his quick feet for Ivory Coast.

The Gunners chased the forward over the summer.

But the £72m purchase of international teammate Nicolas Pepe ended rumours of a move.

Zaha, though, is still being linked with a future transfer.

And footage has emerged from his latest international match which shows why the north London side are still interested.

In the clip, Ivory Coast are playing a friendly against DR Congo.

With a minute of the first half remaining, the Elephants are leading 1-0 and on the attack again.

Palace’s star man receives the ball while running into the penalty box.

Zaha pushes the ball towards the goalie under pressure from Chancel Mbemba.

Allowed to turn, the forward has to take on full-back Jordan Botaka.

But the 26-year-old uses a dummy to move the ball around the defender.

And a shift to the right takes it away from Mbemba.

A sharp cut to the left puts the DR Congo defender on the floor as Zaha puts in a cross.

Pepe then has the space to back flick the ball into the net.

Zaha got on the scoreboard in stoppage time for a 3-1 win.

The forward ran past two players in the penalty box to feed Nicolas Pepe for a backheel into the net

This footage was soon shared on Reddit, where the Gunners faithful made a demand.

“We should buy Zaha to help Pepe settle in,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “Zaha is needed on the wing.”

While a third simply demanded: “Bring us Zaha.”

It comes as Unai Emery has his eyes on a 16-year-old midfielder for the January transfer window.
