Arsenal fans demand Hector Bellerin become captain after chanting with supporters – WATCH

Arsenal got their pre-season off to a flyer as they beat Colorado Rapids 3-0 this week.

Goals from teenage trio Bukayo Saka, James Olayinka and Gabriel Martinelli showed why the Gunners are still birthing arguably the best young talent in country.

One of those to come through their youth ranks is Bellerin, who joined from Barcelona as a 16-year-old.

Despite numerous injuries hampering his first team opportunities, the pacy full-back is a fan favourite at the Emirates.

And he solidified that status with a classy touch on Monday by watching the friendly with fans in LA.

Several American fans turned out to the Fox & Hound pub to see the drubbing of Colorado.

Considering the game was a friendly, the supporters were extremely vocal, no doubt even more than usual due to Bellerin’s surprise appearance.

And the Spaniard got in on the action too, chanting along to the Emirates classic of ‘By Far The Greatest Team’, much to the delight of fans on Twitter.

Following the recent news that current club captain Laurent Koscielny is seeking a move away from Arsenal this summer, Unai Emery is expected to appoint a new skipper for this season.

And based on his recent exploits, fans think Bellerin is the perfect candidate to take the armband.

“The new captain,” one tweeted.

Another added: “Next season’s captain.”

“That’s our Captain,” wrote a third.

Another excited fan put: “My captain!!!”

“Captaincy material,” a fifth added.

Bellerin was not playing due to the cruciate ligament rupture on his knee he suffered against Chelsea in January.

He is expected to return not long after the season starts, though it could be a while before he gets back on the pitch having undergone surgery in February.
