Arsenal are facing a battle to keep Lucas Torreira this summer as AC Milan look to try and sign the midfielder, according to reports.
Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that AC Milan are aiming to try and lure the Uruguay international back to Italy this summer.
According to the same story, Milan are close to appointing Marco Giampaolo as their new manager, and the new boss would be keen on a reunion with Torreira after having worked with him at Sampdoria.
It is claimed in the same story that AC Milan are looking to “invest heavily” this summer after they finished in fifth place in the Serie A table last term.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to the reports and whether Arsenal would be willing to sell one of their most promising players, who only signed for the club last summer.
Torreira, 23, was a regular fixture in the first team during Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge at the club, scoring two goals and making two assists in 34 Premier League games for the Gunners.
He also made one assist in 12 Europa League games to help them reach the final, where they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC.
