Arsenal are lining up a move to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Eldesmarque, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Gunners are keen on a move to sign the 20-year-old next year as they look for a replacement for the struggling Ozil.
The playmaker is currently on loan to Real Sociedad from Real Madrid and the same story says that Arsenal could try and make a move to sign him in January because they want Ozil’s high wages off their books.
However, the same story says that Arsenal are likely to face competition for the midfielder, with Manchester City also being linked with a potential move to sign him.
The article says that Arsenal want to offload Ozil in January and that they are prepared to pay a large portion of his wages to seal a loan deal for the German.
Attacking midfielder Odegaard has scored two goals and made two assists in seven La Liga games for Real Sociedad so far this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently preparing for their home Europa League clash against Standard Liege on Thursday night.
