Unai Emery will be studying his calendar after Arsenal’s Europa League fixtures were revealed this afternoon.
UEFA have confirmed that the Gunners will kick-off their Europa League campaign with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on September 27.
It will see last season’s losing finalists take on the German side who fell at the previous hurdle, also to eventual winners Chelsea.
Arsenal were placed in Group F in Friday afternoon’s draw, pitching them against Standard Liege and Vitoria SC as well as the Bundesliga outfit.
Emery will be pleased to see that his side are at home to Aston Villa the Sunday after their opening Europa League clash.
Back-to-back home games against the Belgian side Liege and Vitoria SC sandwich home Premier League game with Bournemouth and a trip to Sheffield United.
Arsenal will play the second of their double-header against Vitoria in Guimaraes on matchday four.
But the game will take place on Wednesday November 6 as opposed to the normal Thursday Europa League slot with an earlier 5:50pm kick-off.
This is due to the Portuguese side’s requirement to play home matches on Wednesdays.
Arsenal face a tricky visit to the King Power Stadium the following Sunday, but Emery will be happy that his side will have an extra day’s rest before facing Leicester.
Arsenal will then welcome Frankfurt to north London, before finishing up against Liege.
Meanwhile, Gunners legend Ian Wright has told Emery to ditch his midfield diamond experiment for Sunday’s north London derby with Tottenham.
The former striker admitted he was ‘baffled’ by the Spaniard’s decision to play with a diamond in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
“Whatever we say, our two chances that were made, apart from the goal Torreira scored, were when we had [Alexandre] Lacazette, [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, [Nicolas] Pepe and Torreira on the pitch,” he said.
“We made a goal, it might have been a consolation but… You just want your best players on the pitch.”
