Arsenal defender shares his top 5 influences, including Invincible and Brazilian duo

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has revealed the set of players he has tried to model his own game on.

The Bosnia international sat down with the club’s official website to talk about which players – past and present- have inspired him to become the player he is today.

“My No 1 is Roberto Carlos,” he said. “He was a dangerous left-back and he played forward a lot too. He was probably the first left back who really stood out for me and has stuck in my mind.”

His second influence is none other than Gunners Invincible Ashley Cole, whom Kolasinac describes as ‘powerful’.

Current Real Madrid left-back Marcelo was the third man named by Kolasinac. “I like him because of the way he controls the ball and I honestly think he could play in midfield or as a supporting striker because he handles the ball like an attacking player,” he said. “He’s technically strong.”

He then stated that AC Milan and Italy legend Paolo Maldini and Bayern Munich ace David Alaba have also served as his inspirations.

TBR’s view – Kolasinac must improve

Arsenal fans will hope Kolasinac can become half as good as any of the names he mentioned, although they won’t hold out much hope.

The burly 26-year-old has struggled to convince the masses this season and faces a real battle to keep his place in the starting XI with exciting summer signing Kieran Tierney now fit.

Physically, Kolasinac has an advantage over many players in the Premier League – if he was just able to bring the defensive side of his game up to scratch then he would be a monstrous proposition.
