Arsenal boss Unai Emery urged not to start Rob Holding or Hector Bellerin

Arsenal host Bournemouth on Sunday as they look to build on cement their place in the Premier League top four.

The Gunners have lost just once this season, but conceded an alarming 11 goals in their opening seven matches.

And former Arsenal defensive stalwart Martin Keown has shared his view on who Unai Emery should pick in his back four.

The former centre-half reckons Kieran Tierney and Callum Chambers should start in the full-back positions, with Sokratis and David Luiz continuing in the middle.

That leaves the recently returned Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin left out.

“I think Tierney comes in,” Keown said on BT Sport.

“I think Sokratis [Papastathopoulos] plays and David Luiz, I’m not going to argue with it.

“[Rob] Holding has a chance to break that partnership, he’s good enough to do it.

“Again he’s coming back from injury and Bellerin can break in but Chambers looks a different player more recently.

“I think [Ainsley] Maitland-Niles now has lost that place. Chambers, I think he’s in control. I didn’t see enough from Bellerin [against Standard].

“I think [against Bournemouth on Sunday] it will probably be the back four that played against Manchester United, I see no changes.

“But Tierney, I’d be tempted to play him.”

Questions have been asked of the Arsenal defence, with centre-back pairing Sokratis and David Luiz the main culprits for criticism.

There doesn’t seem to be a wealth of replacements though.

Shkodran Mustafi and Konstantinos Mavropanos seem to have been frozen out, while Rob Holding has recently come back from a long-term cruciate ligament injury.

Left-back Tierney has recently overcome an injury, and is expected to be Arsenal’s left-back for years to come, replacing Sead Kolasinac.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Callum Chambers have shared the right-back spot this season, though Hector Bellerin is likely to become the first choice when he is fully fit again.
