Arsenal boss Unai Emery states Kieran Tierney is ready for Premier League debut

Unai Emery has revealed Kieran Tierney is ready to make his Premier League debut for Arsenal on Monday night.

The Gunners face Sheffield United at Brammall Lane and go into the match with a near-clean bill of health.

That includes Tierney, who has missed the majority of the season through an injury sustained while at Celtic.

“He’s ready to play. Now we have two options in that left-back role with Sead Kolasinac and him,” Emery said.

“We’re going to play a lot of matches after Monday. We will need every player.”

The 22-year-old underwent a double hernia operation in the summer and was in rehab for the first six weeks since moving to Arsenal.

He joined from Celtic for £25m and fans are desperate to see him in action in the Premier League.

But Emery has kept them waiting after insisting that the Scotsman must work for a spot in the starting XI.

“It depends how he comes into the first training with us, Sead, after his international matches,” the Spaniard added.

“We now have two players in that position and we can use one on Monday, it depends how they are, one or the other.”

Another player who Arsenal are able to welcome back is Alexandre Lacazette, who has been missing since their 2-2 draw against Tottenham last month.

“Today is Lacazette’s first training back with us,” Emery said.

“He finished it well and he’s feeling well with his injuries. Tomorrow we will be training again and he will be with us.

“The most important thing is that first he is training, then secondly it’s whether he can be with us and it depends how he can feel in the next days training with us, whether his ankle is not giving him any more problems.

“It’s positive for us that he’s started training and that he’s a possibility for Monday.”
