The youngster grabbed a brace last night as the Gunners romped to a 3-0 International Champions Cup win over Fiorentina.
The 20-year-old striker has now scored three goals in two pre-season games as he looks to try and work his way into the first team.
Nketiah’s predatory goal-scoring instincts have drawn comparisons with Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
While he has made just eight Premier League appearances so far for the Gunners, fans are hoping that he see more action this year.
Speaking after the win over Fiorentina, Emery expressed his pride in the youngster and revealed that he turned down the chance to send him out on loan last season.
“I’m really happy but last year in small moments when we could give him chances to be on the pitch he did very well,” he said.
“His progress can confirm, we want progress with every player.
“He has a very good attitude and they need experience, minutes and confidence. The young energy is very important.
“Last year in December we were thinking to loan the player to Germany or not, but we decided to keep him with us.
“We started this pre-season with the same idea, to stay with us. I spoke with the club and him. He had doubts.
“We have examples last year, some players went away and didn’t play all we wanted.
“I said to him first be focused here. If you earn the chance to be with us, I can promise you you are going to have minutes.”
When discussing the likelihood of Nketiah getting into the first team, Emery hinted that the departure of Danny Welbeck could help the youngster’s chances.
“Aubameyang plays some time on the wing,” he said. “Last year we had Lacazette, Aubameyang and Welbeck. They had space to play.
“We want to give the chances to Nketiah. Every young player if they deserve to be here we’ll help them.”
Arsenal will attempt to keep their 100 per cent pre-season record when they take on Real Madrid next at midnight on Wednesday July 24th.
