Arsenal and Manchester United legend Robin van Persie was left feeling awkward as comedian Romesh Ranganathan took aim at him on Sky’s A League Of Their Own.
The Dutchman rose to prominence in north London, scoring 132 goals in eight seasons.
Van Persie became a fan favourite, working his way up to captain.
But he made a shock move to rivals United in 2013, where 30 goals in his first season helped them to a 13th Premier League title.
He went on to score 58 goals in three seasons at Old Trafford.
Gunners fans have been left split on their feelings towards the Dutchman, with some despising him.
One of them is Rangantahan, who is a regular panellist on Sky’s A League Of Their Own.
And footage has emerged of the 41-year-old making his feelings clear to the former forward.
In the clip, host James Corden is introducing all the guests.
Turning to the comedian, he says: “Romesh, you must be excited.
“As an Arenal fan, you’re on the same show as one of Man United’s greatest ever strikers.”
Van Persie listens with a smile on his face as the comedian gives a brutal answer.
“You’re a p****, mate,” Rangantahan says.
The audience burst into laughter while the Dutchman chuckles uncomfortably.
A League Of Their Own’s new regular panellist then uses a cheeky joke in reference to the 36-year-old’s departure.
Ranganathan adds: “He’s a great player – I just hope he sticks around for the whole show.
“He’ll probably go to [BBC sports show] A Question of Sport in the ad break.”
Corden cannot contain his laughter at the joke.
But van Persie is left once again to laugh uncomfortably at the cheeky dig.
It comes as the Dutchman gave his verdict on Arsenal’s new star Dani Ceballos.
A League Of Their Own continues on Sky One at 9pm tonight.
