The Gunners have been looking to add fresh faces after a challenging first season in north London for Unai Emery.
Under the Spaniard’s stewardship, Arsenal started well but ultimately finished the campaign in a disappointing fashion.
They missed out on Champions League football after failing to finish in the top four or win the Europa League.
Emery, however, is keen to add quality to his ranks despite having only limited resources.
“Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants William Saliba”
Yahoo Sport France claim talented young centre-back Saliba has agreed a five-year deal – but he’ll return to Ligue 1 on loan.
The 18-year-old will cost around £27m with bonuses set to be added on.
RMC journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi tweeted: “William Saliba to Arsenal is essentially complete.
“Arsenal and ASSE have reached an agreement of around €30M.
“Whilst both clubs are still discussing transfer bonuses, the player has already agreed with Arsenal.”
Arsenal reportedly only have limited transfer funds this summer.
It’s thought Emery will be given just £45m to spend by club bigwigs. Any extra cash will need to be raised through player sales.
Nevertheless, Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha continues to be linked with the club.
The Ivory Coast international is apparently keen to move from south London to Islington.
Last week Zaha’s brother, Judicael, said: “Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard and all the support they’ve given means the world to him.
“It’s my brother’s dream though, to play for Arsenal.
“Given all Wilfried has given to Palace to help them remain a PL club, I hope Palace will be able to see their way to agreeing a deal with Arsenal.
“That will allow Wilfried to realise his dream of playing European Football for the club he’s supported since childhood.”
Palace’s valuation of Zaha remains a huge headache for Arsenal, though.
Emery submitted a cheeky £40m bid earlier this month.
However, Palace value their prized asset at around £80m and are under no pressure to sell after cashing in on Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Arsenal also remain interested in Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.
