The 23-year-old, who left Real Madrid to join the Gunners on a season-long loan in the summer, has quickly become a key player at the Emirates.
In his first 11 appearances, Ceballos has generally impressed in the middle of the park, chipping in with two assists and a goal.
That solid form earned him a call-up to Robert Moreno’s Spain squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway and Sweden, but AS are reporting that he is a doubt to be involved against the former on Saturday.
Ceballos could not complete La Roja’s Tuesday morning session because of a muscular problem and was subsequently replaced by Dani Olmo, who was summoned from the under-21 squad.
Fortunately, an MRI scan revealed the midfielder did not pick up a serious injury and has instead tightened his hamstring.
Today he underwent a light training session with Spain as a precaution ahead of this weekend’s clash with Norway.
The positive news means Moreno could gamble on Ceballos’ fitness on Saturday, but AS go on to claim that the 42-year-old was already planning on starting him against Sweden next Tuesday.
Thus, the player has a few more days to get himself back into full fitness and ensure he is fully recovered from the hamstring problem.
The news will come as a relief to Arsenal boss Emery, who recently lost star striker Alexandre Lacazette to an ankle injury.
Ceballos admitted this week that he is “very happy” playing under his fellow Spaniard in north London, while insisting he doesn’t feel sorry for Madrid.
“Going to Arsenal has been a very important step in my career,” he said.
“I don’t feel sorry for not being in Madrid. Right now I am where I want to be and I am very happy.
“My idea was to go out, play and enjoy football. In the previous two years I had not done so.
“My goal is only to work to keep doing things right.
“I have eight months left at Arsenal, I can only thank them for the confidence that the coach and fans have placed in me, who have already made me a song. I am very happy there and I hope to continue for a long time.”
