England Under 21 manager Aidy Boothroyd is happy that striker Eddie Nketiah is on loan at Leeds United and feels he will improve there.
Nketiah hasn’t been playing regularly at Elland Road, but netted a hat trick for the Young Lions last night in a 5-1 victory over their Austrian counterparts.
As per the Evening Standard, Boothroyd said: “[Nketiah] gets his minutes with us and I’m sure he’ll do well at his club team.
“He is in a brilliant place, learning off a great coach and I know because he has said he is enjoying being there at such a big club and when he comes to us he is ready and fresh – hopefully we can send him back as a better player.”
TBR’s View – Leeds can be perfect place for Nketiah to learn but he needs more games
Patrick Bamford was the striker Marcelo Bielsa hung his hat on when he splashed the cash in his first summer at Elland Road and he seems keen to persist with the former Middlesbrough man this term.
But Nketiah looks the sharper goalscorer and deserves more than cameos to show his worth. Perhaps those chances will come as the campaign wears on and he can’t do much more than net a hat trick on international duty.
He is obviously sharp and enjoying his time away, which are two important factors in a loan spell, but Bielsa needs to play him more from the off.
