An agent close to Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that the Arsenal forward has a minimum fee release clause in his Arsenal contract. The French strikerly, formerly of Lyon, is reportedly a long-term target for Spanish giants Barcelona.
It is understood that Lacazette is wanted as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez, who at 32-years-old there is some concern from the Nou Camp that the Uruguayan’s best years are beyond him.
In the summer, agent Dmitry Cheltsov revealed that the Gunners offered the forward to Russian club Zenit St Petersburg. It is understood that the player has a £61 million fee release clause and that Cheltsov had been informed that the French striker was available for transfer.
‘I offered Alexandre Lacazette to Zenit,’ Cheltsov told Sport Business Gazeta. ‘Their sporting director Javier Ribalta said to me: ‘Are you crazy? His release clause is €68m [£61m].’
‘I told him you can negotiate with Arsenal. I am sure they will be ready to accept something between €50m and €55m [£45m – £49.5m].’
