Arsenal have a host of young talents who are threatening to break into the first-team. Some of the better players have already made their mark in the first-team this season.
Unai Emery has placed his trust in Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock, using both in the Premier League. But who could follow these two into the first-team? Here are three candidates to become Arsenal’s next breakthrough star.
Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano in the summer for £6m (Goal). The 18-year-old featured heavily in pre-season and has been included with the first-team in training.
Emery has already given Martinelli a small cameo in the Premier League to get a flavour of the action. The Brazilian striker could get more games before the end of the season, especially if there are injuries.
Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka is considered to be one of the most exciting young talents on the books. The 18-year-old is a diminutive winger who has already played four times for the senior side.
Saka has all the ingredients to become a success in the future. When Emery starts rotating his squad to keep his options fresh, the England U19 international will surely be knocking on the door for opportunities.
Emile Smith Rowe
Emile Smith Rowe is just recovering from a long-term injury but he is expected back soon. The 19-year-old operates on either wing and he has an eye for goal. With three senior goals already in his career, he is destined for big things.
Smith Rowe and Nelson are both fighting for a spot on the wing in Emery’s squad. If he hits the ground running when he returns, the England U19 starlet could nail down his spot.
