Newcastle have got to consider ambitious move to sign £42m Arsenal star in January, player reportedly listed

Arsenal are reportedly said to offload Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window on loan as the German playmaker continues to struggle to get game time at The Emirates – so should Newcastle United consider a temporary move?

Ozil, 30, has managed just two games for Arsenal this season as the attacking midfielder continues to be criticised for his lack of effort and dip in form – compared to his previous level of performances, since his £42million (BBC) move from Real Madrid.

Now, The Mail claims Arsenal are willing to offload the former Stuttgart ace on loan in the January window, as they fear they will not be able to sell him permanently due to his enormous £350,000-a-week wages at The Emirates.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are lacking in creativity. Miguel Almiron has struggled in the Premier League since joining Newcastle in January from Atlanta United, while Ayoze Perez left The Toon in the summer to join Leicester City for £30million.

Steve Bruce’s side produced a stunning display to beat Manchester United 1-0, but the side have scored just five goals in eight league games. They need creativity in the middle of the park to bring out the best of Andy Carroll and Joelinton.

So, surely Newcastle should offer Ozil an escape route by bringing the former Germany international to St. James’ Park? Newcastle can afford to pay a part of Ozil’s wages, with Arsenal hardly expecting any interested clubs to pay his full pay cheque.

Arsenal need to let him go and the bigger the stage the better. If they are to sell him permanently, they need him playing at a good level and impressing in order for clubs to become interested – making a loan spell a shop window.

A move to Tyneside then would be excellent exposure for Ozil, to help him find a permanent move next summer and get Arsenal some cash for his signature.
