Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has been ruled out of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Leciester City.
The club provided an update on the 23-year-old on Friday morning, after the Spaniard limped out of the Gunners’ Europa League game with Vitoria on Thursday.
The on-loan Real Madrid man has sustained an injury to his left hamstring, and is the only first-teamer unavailable to Unai Emery this weekend.
Ceballos has made a sluggish start to life at the Emirates following his summer move.
The playmaker wowed on his full debut back in August against Burnley, but has struggled to reach those heights since.
Some have put it down to Emery playing him in the wrong position, with Ceballos more of a natural ‘number eight’ than an advanced midfielder.
Despite his early struggles, Emery has utilised Ceballos in every single game so far, perhaps indicating how much he values the ace.
Arsenal fans react
A number of Arsenal fans gave their reactions to Ceballos’ absence on social media, with some calling for Mesut Ozil to replace him in midfield:

Play Toreirra in his natural position. A blind man can see he’s not happy.

Personally he’s only had 1 good game imo. Don’t think English football suits him so no great loss for Saturday.

Surely means our midfield tomorrow will be Torreira, Guendouzi and Ozil.
